He Got Game: Around This Time of Year…

Around this time of year, I usually slip into a state of depression because I know that the season is coming to an end.  But luckily, the off-season usually provides just enough excitement to keep me enticed until the next season begins.  With that said, oh yea, it’s down to the Final Four in the NBA. Grind Time, like Killa Mike fam… yeah.

Let me start by saying that this post-season, hasn’t been short on surprises.  I mean, C’mon son, who thought that the Celtics, Spurs, and Lakers would all be out at this point, feel me?  Let’s see wuz up.

Bulls vs HeatMan, this is the most anticipated match up of the entire playoffs in my opinion.  Lebron, Wade, and Bosh against D.Rose, Deng, and Noah.  The series is currently knotted up at 1-1.  In Game 1, the Bulls came out with some fire, and were nasty on the offensive boards.  The Bulls demolished the Heat in a 103-82 rout.  In Game 2, the Heat got some retribution (with a little assistance from the refs) and beat the Bulls 85-75.  Lebron was clutch when it matter and was the deciding factor of the game.  However, this might have gone the other way with better officiating.  I’m just saying. Game three on Sunday.

Mavs vs Thunder

First and foremost, let me just say that prior to this playoff season, I wasn’t a big Dirk fan.  But if this guy keeps putting up performances like he did in Game 1, then he’s about to gain a new one.  This guy Dirk dropped 48 points on the Thunder’s defense, in an effortless manner.  When I say effortless, I mean this dude did it in 15 shots. It bears mentioning that he also set a record at the line, going 24-24 from the stripe.  Last guy to drop numbers like that from the line was Paul Pierce when he went 21-21 in the first round of the 2003 playoffs.

The Draft is on the Way

The Cavs, in dramatic fashion, received the 1st pick in the 2011 draft. The Cavs were being represented by the Owner’s son, Nick Gilbert, who has a rare disease that cause tumors to grow anywhere on his body.  Word to David Kahn, I called this one as soon as the Cavs jumped into the number three.  No way two NBA execs beat out a 14 year old kid with a rare disease. People love controversy and controversy sells. Not only did they get the top pick, but they also received the #4 pick.  Click here for a breakdown of all the lottery results.

Sidenote: Is this a coincidence that this happened a year after Lebron left Cleveland for South Beach? Conspiracy theorists (including me) say no.

Only days after the draft, trade talk is already heating up.  Although it’s just “talk” at this point, the Pacers have been in contact with the T-Wolves about the second overall pick.

Derrick Williams says he’s the “Savior”??? But the recurring thought around the league is that a PG from Duke should go number one.

Quick Hits

Yao still hoping for a return to Houston?

Doc Rivers now the league’s highest paid coach?

And KAJ beefin’ with the Lakers?
